This World Circular Economy Forum 2024 accelerator session will explore how cities and towns are integrating circular economy principles into climate action to reduce CO2 emissions across sectors, preserve biodiversity and achieve common sustainability goals.

The session, taking place on 17 April from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST, will draw on an analysis of ICLEI’s soon-to-be-published Circular Cities Declaration Report 2024 (see the 2022 report). Cities featured in the report will share testimonials, offering practical examples of how the circular economy is increasingly driving strategic goals. They will highlight challenges, key success factors and best practices for other cities to follow. This will be followed by ample time for discussion on how the circular economy can be leveraged to meet climate and nature regeneration goals.

The Circular Cities Declaration (CCD) is a commitment made by over 80 cities to date, to use the levers at their disposal to shift from a linear to a circular economy.
