The European Sustainable Nutrient Initiative (ESNI) brings together leading experts in the field of nutrient cycling to foster collaboration among European entities engaged in nutrient recycling. The goal is to facilitate the exchange of valuable experiences and identify knowledge gaps to guide future research.

ESNI Conference 2024 will focus on nutrient recycling and reuse for more sustainable resource management.

There will be plenary sessions on:

  • What is the current status of the Fertiliser Product Regulation and what are expected next steps?
  • Biogas as key technology in nutrient recuperation & offical launch of the Biomethane Industrial Partnership report
  • ESNI investigates several approaches for assessing sustainability aspects of the technologies and recovered nutrients
  • Recycled nutrients and the Soil Monitoring Law: what are the opportunities?

Parallel sessions will tackle issues such as Biogas beyond energy, valorisation of digestate and digestate derived fertilisers and Barriers and opportunities in EU & regional legislation and economic strategies. Information will also be available on new research from EU-funded projects and research institutes.

There will be more than 160 people from the bio-based resource recovery sector all over Europe, making for useful networking opportunities.
