PlastLIFE is a comprehensive Finnish collaborative project that promotes sustainable circular economy solutions for plastics. The goal is a sustainable circular economy for plastics in Finland by 2035. The seven-year project started in December 2022 and will continue until the end of 2029. It is part of the EU’s LIFE Programme and has a total budget of around 20 million euros.

The project is holding its annual seminar, with presentations on three key topics: the work done in the PlastLIFE project focusing on artificial turfs, lengthening the lifetime of products and reducing waste, and product and business development.

  • The first session will focus on tackling the circularity challenges of artificial turfs.
  • The second session will explore extending product lifetimes and reducing waste, with a keynote address giving real-world examples of reusable packaging.
  • The third session will provide cutting-edge insights into turning recycled material innovations into market-ready products and business development
  • The keynote speech in the seminar will be given by Henk Dillingh from Rijkswaterstaat (the Netherlands).

Speakers will include representatives from the City of Helsinki, the City of Lappeenranta, LUT University, Aalto University, University of Jyväskylä, the Finnish Environment Institute, Natural Resources Institute Finland and Plastone Oy.

The annual seminar of the PlastLIFE project will be held on 20 November from 9:00 to 16:00 EET. It will take place on-site in Kilta-sali (Lapinrinne 1, 00180 Helsinki) in the centre of Helsinki and online, in English.
