RE-PLAN CITY LIFE (RElevant Audience Plan Leading to Awareness Network for CIrcular Economy Use of Recycled TYre materials in CITY LIFE) is a LIFE project raising awareness about the use of recycled tyre materials, promoting environmentally-friendly behaviour in urban communities, stimulating the adoption of circular economy best practices and creating opportunities for cooperation and implementation through new projects.
The LIFE SILENT project aims to develop sustainable and eco-friendly solutions for mitigating noise emissions from road and rail traffic in complex urban environments. It develops and tests low-noise pavements made from recycled, non-toxic materials, such as cardboard and end-of-life tyres.
Both of them support the use of recycled rubber in asphalt. Experiences and demonstration projects in various countries have confirmed that this solution is technically viable and more sustainable.
They are organising a workshop on this issue:
- Day 1: Technical visit to an asphalt plant which produces and lays rubberised asphalt.
- Day 2: International seminar exploring the most recent experiences and innovations in the use of recycled tyre materials in asphalt and road infrastructure. The roundtable discussion will analyse the obstacles limiting the use of these materials and how they could be overcome.
The workshop will also illustrate the tools established by these projects to stimulate stronger engagement by public authorities in adopting best practices and green procurement.
This event will take place on 4-5 December in Rome. It will be in person and conducted in both Italian and English, with simultaneous interpreting. It is intended for the road infrastructure sector.
