The European Commission is opening a call for membership applications for a new Ecodesign Forum under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The forum will play an important role in the implementation of the ESPR by involving all stakeholders in developing rules for more circular, energy-efficient and sustainable products.
The new Ecodesign Forum will bring together representatives from industry, civil society and academia, together with experts appointed by the Member States. Building on the experience of implementing the Ecodesign Directive, the Commission will consult forum members on key areas under the ESPR. This includes the ecodesign requirements aiming to make products more sustainable and create a strong EU market for them, ESPR working plans, market surveillance mechanisms, self-regulation measures and bans on the destruction of unsold consumer products. The Ecodesign Forum will also play an advisory role in the implementation of energy labelling rules.
Organisations and individuals meeting the selection criteria will have until 12:00 CET on 5 December to submit their applications, which will then be assessed by the Commission. Representatives of Member States and other public entities will be designated on direct invitation from the Commission.
