Adopting circular fertilisers is essential for creating a more sustainable agricultural system. By recycling organic waste, such as manure, fish waste and industrial by-products, circular fertilisers can decrease the EU’s dependence on imports and return valuable nutrients to the soil.

This event is the final conference of two EU-funded projects. Novafert aimed to establish methodological guidelines for assessing the production, storage, distribution and application of alternative fertilising products. Based on the circular economy model, SEA2LAND promoted the production of large-scale fertilisers in the EU from own raw materials.

A policy debate on nutrient recycling will discuss barriers and policy incentives for circular fertilisers with a focus on recommendations by Sea2Land, Novafert and Nutri-Know on how regulatory frameworks can support the widespread adoption of sustainable practices and drive innovation in the agricultural sector. Parallel sessions will bring together experts and enthusiasts in the field of sustainable agriculture to explore the latest advances in circular fertilisers.

It will be a day of insightful discussions, interactive workshops and networking opportunities. Participants will see how research and innovation can help promote sustainable practices in agriculture and contribute to a healthier planet.

This EU Green Week partner event will take place at 08:30 – 17:30 CEST on 5 June. It will be held in Brussels and the plenary sessions will also be livestreamed. Registration and programme.
