The European Commission is launching a call for applications for the third mandate of the Platform on Sustainable Finance.
The Platform is an advisory body made up of experts from the private and public sectors. Its role is to advise the European Commission on relevant topics related to the EU taxonomy and the EU sustainable finance framework at large. It provides scientific and evidence‑based advice for technical screening criteria, as well as sustainable finance policies upon request by the Commission.
The Platform on Sustainable Finance 2.0 mandate ended in March 2025. The next mandate will run from the first quarter of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2027. The future platform will consist of up to 35 members, up to 28 of whom will be selected through this call for applications.
The platform will work on the following priorities, which have been identified by the Commission:
- The consultation on the EU Taxonomy draft Delegated Acts (stipulated by by the Omnibus package and set to be adopted during 2026), reviewed to simplify existing technical screening criteria and improve their usability.
- The development of additional technical screening criteria for the taxonomy across all six environmental objectives and possible revisions and/or updates of the criteria where appropriate.
- The monitoring of capital flows into sustainable investments.
- The implementation of transition finance policies.
Interested individuals and organisations are invited to submit their application through the dedicated online form, specifying their areas of knowledge and expertise. Circular economy experts are encouraged to apply.
The deadline for application is 23:59 CEST on 10 September.
