The European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) is Brussels’ flagship event on cohesion policy, co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and the European Committee of the Regions. The event serves as a communication and networking platform fostering cooperation, exchanging knowledge and addressing regional and urban challenges. It’s open to anyone interested, with no charge for participating. Sessions take place across Brussels, mostly in person and in English.
The motto for this year is Shaping tomorrow, together. The themes are Cohesion and growth for the future, The right to stay: unlocking the potential of every territory, and Cities building tomorrow.
Some of the sessions and stands are geared to the circular economy.
RIVCircular: Regional Innovation Valleys for Circular Economy will have a stand (you can register for it using this link) . Aligned with the new European Innovation Agenda’s flagship on accelerating and strengthening innovation, RIVCircular brings together six European regions: Madrid, Hauts-de-France, Innlandet, Brandenburg, Košice and Kyiv in the field of the circular economy. It focuses on construction and demolition waste, waste and energy recapture, electric vehicle batteries, textile industry and digitalisation. It aims to enhance the policy-making process by engaging with stakeholders, civil society and experts, and to build capacities, competence and expertise for professionals related to the circular economy as well as remove barriers.
Their stand will be available on 14-15 October.
#EURegionsWeek will take place from 13-15 October, with the opening session on 13 October (livestreamed). You need to register by 30 September (for both the event as a whole and the individual stands/sessions).
