The European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) is Brussels’ flagship event on cohesion policy, co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and the European Committee of the Regions. The event serves as a communication and networking platform fostering cooperation, exchanging knowledge and addressing regional and urban challenges. It’s open to anyone interested, with no charge for participating. Sessions take place across Brussels, mostly in person and in English.
The motto for this year is Shaping tomorrow, together. The themes are Cohesion and growth for the future, The right to stay: unlocking the potential of every territory, and Cities building tomorrow.
Some of the sessions and stands are geared to the circular economy. For example:
Stands:
- Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI)
- ICLEI Europe – Local Governments for Sustainability
- RIVCircular project: Regional Innovation Valleys
Sessions:
- Boosting regional competitiveness through entrepreneurship, innovation and circularity
- Advancing and monitoring circular economy lifestyles and policies in cities and regions
- Creating systemic transparency: how mapping resource flows helps to identify circular business opportunities in rural regions
- Green synergy: linking waste management and renewable energy
#EURegionsWeek will take place from 13-15 October, with the opening session on 13 October (livestreamed). You need to register by 30 September (for both the event as a whole and the individual stands/sessions).
