Modelling to policy: Circular economy pathways towards net-zero
Sara Dorato

Three EU Horizon Europe projects — CIRCOMOD, CircEUlar and CO2NSTRUCT — are hosting their joint final conference on circular economy pathways to net-zero. This event will bring together researchers, policymakers and sustainability experts to explore how circular economy strategies can drive the EU’s transition to net-zero. The opening plenary session is freely accessible via livestream.

The plenary will cover:

  • How multi-scale modelling — from global to EU to local — can translate into actionable circular economy policy
  • Circular strategies across three key thematic areas: the construction ecosystem, service-focused measures (mobility and housing), and system-wide enablers, including digitalisation and economic impacts
  • Key policy recommendations from three years of Horizon Europe research, presented alongside immediate institutional reactions from the European Commission and OECD

Confirmed speakers include:

  • William Neal, Adviser on Circular Economy, DG ENV, European Commission
  • Volker Krey, IIASA (CircEUlar)
  • Ana Teresa Macas Lima, Technical University of Denmark (CO2NSTRUCT)
  • Detlef van Vuuren, Utrecht University / Copernicus Institute (CIRCOMOD)
  • Ruben Bibas, OECD
  • Mihai Palimariciuc, DG EMPL, European Commission

This event is relevant to policymakers, researchers, industry representatives and professionals working on the circular economy, climate policy, sustainable construction, mobility, housing and environmental regulation.

This event will take place from 13:30–15:00 CEST on 28 May. Registration and agenda.
