This conference will bring together clinicians, hospital leaders and sustainability experts to scale the Born Green Generation model – a practical pathway to deliver circular, safe and sustainable maternity and neonatal care.
While healthcare’s core responsibility is to protect people’s health, it also has an impact on environmental and public health through its own operations and supply chains. The system still relies on a linear model that drives emissions, waste and exposure to hazardous substances. In maternity and neonatal care, this means babies are exposed to harmful materials such as PVC and chemicals like PFAS through routine clinical practice and disposable, plastic products.
This conference will explore how hospitals can break this pattern by removing hazardous plastics from maternity and paediatric care pathways, improving both patient safety and environmental performance, and turning circular innovation into a practical, scalable and cost-effective hospital practice.
It will showcase how hospitals across Europe are already implementing these changes through the Born Green Generation model.
The conference will take place in person only on 13 October. There is no charge to attend but there are limited places, so those interested will need to apply by 4 October and the organisers will select the applicants for whom the event will be most useful. You can see the programme here.
