The Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 will bring together leaders from policy, science, industry and civil society to explore how the bioeconomy can be scaled as a force for change.
It will highlight how bio-based solutions address pressing global crises, from food and energy security to health, biodiversity loss and climate resilience.
The programme includes a plenary session on Bioeconomy and multi-dimensional innovation – from discovery to scale, which will look at the guiding principles of bioeconomy innovation: circularity, employment, inclusion, nature- and climate-positive supply chains and the utilisation of sustainably available biomass.
Other plenary sessions will:
- present promising examples of new bioeconomy solutions that, when scaled, can address the polycrisis, respect planetary boundaries and foster resilience
- examine policies that unlock finance and markets, attract investments and catalyse the biobased economy
- look at how EU funding, regulation and collaboration support competitive national and regional bioeconomies, then turn to Ireland’s new bioeconomy strategy and demonstration initiatives
- establish a 2040 vision where the bioeconomy has become a “global norm”, driving socio-economic transformation and climate action.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- contribute to shaping global, national and regional bioeconomy strategies
- engage with cutting-edge science, technology and innovation
- build cross-border partnerships and networks for investment and collaboration
- showcase and learn from local solutions with global impact
- join the effort to develop actionable climate and nature-positive outcomes from bio-based solutions.
There will also be workshops, site visits and satellite activities.
