The BRILIAN project focuses on empowering rural areas through cooperative and circular business models. It capitalises on agricultural by-products, thereby increasing and diversifying primary producers’ income.
The workshop Seeds of Change in Rural Areas will address several crucial policy-related topics, including:
- utilising rural feedstocks,
- making the rural economy part of energy and industrial networks,
- developing new materials from agricultural feedstocks,
- training for agricultural workers and enterprises, and
- improving the availability of agricultural workers in areas with few young people.
The workshop will take place in Brussels on 13 March from 09:00 to 13:00.
It will include presentations by representatives of the European Bioeconomy Bureau, the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (EC-JRC).
Speakers will tackle topics such as biomethane industrial partnerships for sustainable rural development, the impact of the EU legislative agenda, and European policy perspectives. There will also be a round table session on unlocking resources from agricultural produce and waste.
The workshop will end with lunch and a networking session.
