The 29th NeRess conference on Shaping the Transformation – Tools and Levers for Implementing a Competitive Circular Economy is organised by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection and the Resource Efficiency Network (NeRess).
As well as all the usual advantages of resource efficiency and reduced harm to the environment, Germany is interested in the macroeconomic potential of the circular economy. By 2030, almost 180 000 new jobs could be created and GDP increased by EUR 12 billion. Improved domestic availability of secondary raw materials is another major benefit, with the resulting decreased dependence on imports, especially of CRMs. New circular business models need to be explored. However, leveraging this potential will require the appropriate political, economic and institutional conditions.
The National Circular Economy Strategy, due to be adopted this year by the federal government, also seeks to drive the transformation to a circular economy and recognises that society as a whole needs to get on board with this shift.
The 29th NeRess Conference will tackle the following key innovation potential and levers:
- Digitization: data and data spaces for circular value creation and products
- Sustainable finance: capital and security for circular economy investments
- Entrepreneurship: scaling up innovative solutions
- The transformation of industry: potential for companies and employees.
The conference will take place on 12 November at 10:00-16:00 CET in Berlin. It will be in German and in person (livestream also available). There is no charge for participating. Programme and registration.
