AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, is hosting the second International Seminar on Biotechnology Applied to the Plastics Sector.
This event will bring together over 20 international experts in biotechnology and sustainability to explore innovative solutions that will enable the plastics sector to move towards a more sustainable future.
Day 1:
- Plastics and bioeconomy: this session will examine how biotechnology is driving the development of bioplastics derived from renewable sources.
- Production of bioplastics from waste: this session will focus on innovations in fermentation techniques for producing bioplastics from organic waste.
- Post-production processes for bioplastics: this session will emphasise the techniques of monomer purification and subsequent polymerisation to enhance the quality and performance of products.
- Enzymatic recycling: this session will explore its potential as an eco-friendly alternative to the depolymerisation and reuse of plastics.
Day 2:
- Enhancing the biodegradation of plastics: this session will analyse advances in the compostability and biodegradation of bioplastics
- Techno-economic and environmental aspects: this session will assess the costs, opportunities and challenges of implementing sustainable biotechnological solutions.
The seminar will take place in person on 5 and 6 March in Valencia. There will be simultaneous interpreting between Spanish and English.
