Get ready for the Multi-stakeholder Conference for the CHORIZO and ZeroW projects, two EU-funded projects under the Horizon Europe and EU Horizon 2020 Green Deal Programme, respectively. These projects have played a leading role in the research addressing the urgent issue of food loss and waste (FLW) in Europe.
With the EU generating approximately 58 million tonnes of food waste annually (resulting in substantial economic losses and contributing significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions), tackling FLW is critical for delivering on the EU’s Farm to Fork Strategy, climate targets and broader sustainability goals.
This joint final conference marks the culmination of two highly complementary research and innovation projects:
- CHORIZO (Changing practices and Habits through Open, Responsible, and social Innovation towards ZerΟ food waste) delves into the behavioural dimensions of food waste, developing social innovations and exploring how social norms, perceptions and everyday practices shape FLW in different circumstances.
- ZeroW (Innovations for zero food waste) offers a systemic perspective, addressing FLW across the entire food supply chain, from primary production to consumption. It focuses on technological innovations and policy interventions to drive impactful reduction strategies.
This event will bring together innovators, policymakers and experts to discover innovative tools and join discussions on critical topics such as packaging innovations, policy strategies and how we can move closer to a zero-food-waste future. There will be plenary sessions, breakout sessions and presentations, along with opportunities for networking.
This event will take place at 09:30–18:00 CEST on 16 September. It will be held at the Herman Teirlinck Building, Brussels and online. It will be in English.
