Raw Materials
in EU
Raw materials are fundamental to human livelihoods and our existence. We rely on a great range of raw materials to fulfil our needs for housing, nutrition, mobility, healthcare, communication, and other lifestyle items and services. Raw materials are also crucial to running’s of our economies. They form the basis for all industrial value chains and ultimately enable the creation of broad range of goods and technologies we use in our lives.
Access to resources and their smart and sustainable use is a strategic challenge for Europe’s ambition to deliver the Green Deal’s transition. Raw materials are fundamental to achieving the green and digital EU, yet their access is dependent on geopolitical developments while the efficiency and sustainability of their use hinges on our ability to transition to a circular, zero pollution economy powered by renewable energy.
