Urbanscapes Group organized the symposium with the main objective of bringing together experts, practitioners and users from different countries and backgrounds to review and discuss existing tools and approaches in implementing good public urban spaces, and to share their experiences from the field. The two-day event in in Washington D.C.
focused on the key themes of place-led developments, public space and streetscape transformation, urban places for economic development, measuring and innovating urban spaces, safer and inclusive public spaces; and concluded with a session on how to operationalize Urbanscapes in World Bank projects. The Sharing Cities project has the objective of clarifying how all city dwellers can benefit from the digital technology transformation process and contribute to it. It is mainly in three strategic locations, London, Lisbon and Milan, to show the effectiveness of new technologies, improved urban mobility structures, increased energy efficiency of buildings and a reduction in overall pollutant emissions would be analyzed.
Sharing Cities vision is a more agile and collaborative smart city with smart solutions in European cities. It invites urban societies to play an active role, to make a more dynamic, livable, economically active and resource efficient place.The exchange of solutions, practices, experiences and results, as well as the improvement of city data and infrastructure management. The project co-creates an improved living space and at the same time reduces energy costs.
